About the Founders
Our Story
Optimal was founded by two passionate sports and fitness enthusiasts, Jamie and James, who decided to turn their passion for sport and fitness into a business. Competing in events like HYROX, ATHX, marathons, and ultra-marathons, they realised that peak performance wasn’t just about training - it was about smart recovery, too.
“When we weren’t in the office, you’d find us in the gym or competing, if it offered a finish line, we were there! Chasing the rush of accomplishment, constantly trying to squeeze off a few more seconds, do a few more reps, or lift a few more kilograms. It became clear that we were chasing a kind of fulfilment we simply weren’t finding in our nine-to-five jobs!
We both have full-time jobs, schedules to maintain, responsibilities to juggle, and bodies that need recovery. The more we learned, from testing new supplements to researching best practices and analysing data, the more obvious it became: a great training session is only half the battle - smart recovery is essential too.
